The Meaning of BEAUTY and How to Live It!

"Truth for the Mind, Passion for the Heart, BEAUTY for the Soul"
-- Edgar Allen Poe

Beauty is that which invokes a transcendent experience between a witness and subject. We may experience it through nature, other humans and animals, art, and most importantly from within ourselves. Our souls are the truest Beauty and when we make that realization we begin the journey of loving ourselves and the world around us.

Beauty is a path, a way of life for your mind, body, environment and soul. Beauty is not about the "American perfection" of the body. In fact Karl Lagerfeld once said, "There is no Beauty without strangeness." I completely agree with Karl and believe that it is often our "flaws" that make us unique and attractive.

Beauty is NOT the airbrushed model portrayed almost everywhere you look. If you notice the most wondrous and beautiful landscapes in Nature, they are wild and filled with "flaws." There is a depth to this kind of Beauty that can never be reached in the perfectionist model. The over-attention of appearing perfect does not create a beautiful human being - but a hollow shell. Real Beauty comes from the hard work of life - digging deep, getting our hands dirty, & loving fiercely. Kahil Gibran said, "Beauty is not in the face; beauty is a light in the heart."

We should of course, honor our bodies as the sacred temples they are. These human bodies made of blood and bones will only be as perfect as this mysterious universe is - with a constant movement of energy at the molecular level, creating a constant need for balance and harmony in our approach to health, aging and living.

So, then, how do you cultivate this thing called Beauty? First, we want to understand where we are putting our attention and therefore our intentions……….when we prioritize our focus on health & spiritual evolution, Beauty is the (perhaps unexpected) outcome. Cultivating Self-Love will make you irresistibly Beautiful. Rosalind Russell said "taking Joy in living is a woman's best cosmetic." You will find that confidence is sexier than any body part - so, we must find our passions and dreams and live them.

Once we have created this inner world of Beauty we can begin to play with our physical form - our appearance should be a work of art. From the way we style our hair, to the clothing and accessories we wear - these physical objects should be a reflection of our inner selves - our story, places and cultures we love, and our work. Our appearance should not be about the addiction to keeping up with fashion and the subsequent shopping! Fashion is ART - and a wonderful human endeavor, however our personality and style should dictate our fashion - not the other way around!

Most of all, to attain Beauty - be in LOVE with life; nature, children, animals, gardening, a lover, a cause, your home; the list is endless. Keep your heart open………and most of all be in love with yourself.

As the New Earth emerges, humans will uncover true Beauty in all of its depth and glory. We will feel and see each other in this Beauty and our actions will reflect this. I believe that planet Earth can, and will evolve into this.

Blessings on your path to Beauty,

Katy Lyons
